Serum is an essential nutrient in cell culture and plays an important role in improving cell growth. The choice of serum bottle determines whether the serum can be stored well and kept aseptic.
Serum refers to the light yellow transparent liquid separated from the plasma after the removal of fibrinogen and some coagulation factors after blood coagulation, or refers to the plasma that has been removed from fibrinogen. Generally, the storage temperature is -5℃ to -20℃. At present, PET is the main material of serum bottles on the market.
Although glass can be used repeatedly, its cleaning and sterilization process is relatively complicated and easy to break. Therefore, PET materials with obvious performance advantages gradually become the first choice for serum bottles. PET raw materials have the following characteristics:
1. transparency: PET material has high transparency, can block ultraviolet light, good gloss, transparent bottle body is more conducive to observe the serum bottle capacity in the bottle.
2. mechanical properties: the impact strength of PET is 3~5 times that of other films, good folding resistance.
3. corrosion resistance: oil resistance, fat resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, most solvents.
4. low temperature resistance: PET embrittlement temperature is -70℃, at -30℃ still has a certain toughness.
5. barrier: gas and water vapor permeability is low, both excellent gas, water, oil and odor performance.
6. safety: non-toxic, tasteless, good health and safety, can be directly used for food packaging.
The low temperature resistance, transparency and barrier properties of PET material make it a good raw material for serum bottle production. Between glass and PET two materials, scientific research institutions, pharmaceutical companies are also more inclined to PET raw materials.
